Why this program
As AI and digital tools take over our attention, stillness and presence get crowded out. Demand for meditation instruction is growing because the world is becoming more overwhelming.
What AI cannot replace is a warm human being who guides your breath and helps you feel better. There is no better feeling than helping someone find peace, and getting paid to do it.
Most certifications are video courses with no one listening. Here you work at your own pace directly with Greg de Vries, who gives honest feedback on your guided meditations until you're ready to teach.
Finish the program to earn the Certified Meditation Coach badge, a personalized Certificate of Completion, and a permanent listing on MeditationCoach.com.
What you earn
By the time you complete the program, you will not simply know more about meditation. You will have practiced guiding it, received personal feedback, and shown that you can lead with clarity, warmth, and care. When you are ready, you will receive a personalized Certificate of Completion and the Certified Meditation Coach badge.
The certificate is something you can print and frame. The badge is something you can carry into the work you want to build.
Made to be seen
This is not a generic download waiting at the end of a video course. Your credential reflects a guided process that includes practice, feedback, and a live final guided meditation. It gives future students, clients, and organizations a clear signal that you took your preparation seriously.
Your personalized Certificate of Completion includes your name, completion date, and certificate number. Keep the digital copy or print and frame it for your office, studio, or teaching space.
Use the Certified Meditation Coach badge on your website, digital brochures, professional bio, email signature, or social profiles. It is yours to use as you begin sharing your work.
Your permanent Certified Coach listing on MeditationCoach.com helps distinguish your completed certification from the free teacher listing and gives prospective students another way to discover you.
If you are ready to practice, receive honest feedback, and earn a credential you will be proud to share, I would be glad to hear from you.
The certificate and badge are awarded after you complete all of the homework and Greg de Vries approves your final guided meditation.
How it works
Work through the weekly lessons covering the four major meditation styles, teaching methodology, the science of meditation, and how to work with different types of students. The course runs 12 weeks, with catch-up weeks after Lesson 2 and after Lesson 4, and you can take up to 16 weeks if life gets in the way, and you can revisit any lesson any time.
Complete every homework assignment: written reflections and recorded meditations. Each Wednesday at 7:05 PM PT, an optional Google Meet gives you a place to check in, ask questions, and practice guiding our small group. Develop your own teaching voice before your final.
When your homework is complete, you present your final guided meditation on Zoom to Greg or to the group, and Greg approves it. Think of it like a college final, with a warm room. When you pass, you receive your Certificate of Completion and Certified Meditation Coach badge, and your listing on MeditationCoach.com will go live.
Certification
Every assignment. 10 lessons over 12 weeks with two catch-up weeks built in, or up to 16 if you need more time.
You guide a meditation on Zoom for Greg de Vries or for the group, and Greg approves it. Think of it like a college final, with a warm room.
Certification comes from finishing the work and passing your final, not from attendance. The weekly Wednesday Google Meet at 7:05 PM PT is optional. It is where you can check in, ask questions, and practice guiding before your final.
Who this is for
This program is designed for people who already work with other people - and who know that stress, anxiety, and disconnection are getting in the way of the people they serve.
Add a powerful credential that deepens your offerings and sets you apart. Many yoga students are more interested in meditation than asana - now you can serve them fully.
You see the effects of chronic stress every day. Meditation is one of the most evidence-backed tools for managing it - and this certification gives you the skills to teach it.
Corporate mindfulness is a growing, well-paid field. Greg has taught at Google, Yahoo, and AOL - and will show you exactly how to approach and serve corporate clients.
Meditation deepens every coaching conversation. Add it to your toolkit and offer clients something that creates lasting change between sessions.
Integrate meditation as a complementary practice alongside your clinical work. Help clients build a daily habit that supports everything you work on together.
Mindfulness in schools is one of the fastest-growing wellness movements. Bring these skills into your classroom or counseling practice and watch the difference.
Massage therapists, acupuncturists, nutritionists, reiki practitioners - meditation is the natural complement to the work you're already doing with the whole person.
Hospital chaplains, ministers, retreat leaders - meditation gives you a universal, secular tool for supporting people in their most vulnerable moments.
You've had a daily meditation practice for years and you want to share it. This certification gives you the methodology, the confidence, and the credential to make it your work.
Those who have served - in the military, as firefighters, paramedics, police officers, or emergency medical workers - carry a kind of stress that most people never experience. Meditation is one of the most powerful tools available for processing that weight, and the people who've lived it are often the most effective at teaching it to others who have too.
In recognition of their service, Greg offers a 25% discount on the full certification program to all verified veterans and active first responders. Mention your service in your application.
"If you work with human beings and you want to help them feel better - this program is for you. The world needs more people who know how to create a moment of stillness for someone who can't find one on their own."
What you'll learn
The foundation of all modern meditation teaching. Learn how to guide students into present-moment awareness through breath, body, and sensation - from beginners to experienced practitioners.
Master the art of leading imagery-based meditations. Explore inner journeys, healing visualizations, and creative practices - and learn how to craft scripts that work for any audience.
Understand how mantra works - neurologically, energetically, and experientially. Learn to introduce mantra practice to students who may have no prior exposure to it.
A respectful, practical survey of the deeper roots of meditation - Buddhism, Vedanta, and contemplative Christian traditions - and how to draw from them appropriately in a secular teaching context.
How to structure a session, work with groups of different sizes and backgrounds, hold a trauma-aware container, and navigate the ethical responsibilities of being a meditation teacher.
The practical business of becoming a working meditation coach. How to start your own Meetup group, approach corporate clients for stress management workshops, find individual students, and structure your offerings. Includes ready-to-use handouts and guides you can put to work immediately.

Your teacher
Greg de Vries has been teaching meditation and mindfulness for over 20 years. He founded MeditationCoach.com in 2004 and has led workshops at Google, Yahoo, AOL, Brocade, and 8x8. He works with every student personally, and approves each final guided meditation. More about Greg
I've been practicing meditation since 1999 and teaching through MeditationCoach.com since 2004 - long before apps, algorithms, or online courses were common. I started MeditationCoach.com in 2004 because I believed the internet could bring meditation to people who'd never walk into a studio or find a local teacher.
Over the years I've taught in boardrooms, conference rooms, and community centers - including corporate workshops at Google, Yahoo, AOL, Brocade, and 8x8. What I found in every setting was the same thing: people are hungry for stillness, and a skilled human teacher can give them something no app ever will.
What I've learned in those 25 years is that the technique matters far less than the teacher. The gentleness of your presence, the quality of your silence, the way you hold space for someone who's never sat still for five minutes - those are the things that actually change people. And in a world moving faster and more digitally than ever before, that human presence is more valuable, not less.
Teaching meditation has been one of the most rewarding and fulfilling things I have ever done. Watching someone discover that they can quiet their mind - sometimes for the first time in their life - never gets old. That's why I want to train the next generation of meditation coaches. Not to grow a business, but because more people deserve access to this technology for personal growth, and there aren't enough skilled teachers to reach them all.
This certification exists because I want more people in the world who can teach that way - and who know how to build a real practice doing it. Every student I certify gets real time with me. A conversation. A live meditation. Honest feedback. And the tools to go find their first students.
